Enroll

To be admitted to the degree program, applicants must hold a five-year secondary school diploma or an equivalent foreign qualification deemed equivalent to the Italian diploma.

Additionally, admission requires a suitable initial preparation, specifically including an interest in cultures different from one's own, a strong sensitivity to linguistic expression and communication, a good written and oral competence in the Italian language, and an adequate cultural preparation according to the current programs of the State secondary school. Knowledge of foreign languages that will be studied in the degree program is not a prerequisite.

The student’s initial preparation will undergo a non-selective assessment, aimed solely at verifying the level of knowledge possessed. Access requirements consist of passing the TOLC-SU or obtaining another CISIA certification equivalent to the TOLC-SU. This verification is also required for students transferring from another degree program within the university or from other universities who have enrolled in the first year. Students who do not participate in the TOLC or do not obtain another equivalent CISIA certification will automatically be assigned additional training obligations (OFA), as outlined in the following paragraph.

If the verification mentioned in the previous paragraph is not successful, the teaching council, on behalf of the department council and upon proposal from the educational committee, will specify additional training obligations that the student must fulfill within the first year of the program. Appropriate supplementary educational activities will be organized (tutoring, introductory lessons, guided study of texts, exercises, etc.). The educational debt (OFA) will be considered fulfilled upon earning 18 ECTS credits in General Linguistics (12 ECTS) and Italian Language with laboratory (6 ECTS) for first-year students assigned the OFA. Students who have not fulfilled the educational debt (OFA) by the September exam session will not be able to enroll in the regular second year, but will instead repeat the first year (when these students return to the regular second year, they will follow the study plan of the cohort of students in the regular second year of the academic year of return).

Each year, the teaching council proposes to the department council the number of non-EU foreign students who do not hold regular residency in Italy to be admitted to the degree program.
